CONFIRMED: xAI merges Grok, Cursor and X Premium into one subscription, free to US$200

In a move that retires SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium as separate products, xAI launches The X Subscription: five tiers sharing one usage pool across Grok, Cursor and the social network, running from free to US$200 a month.

Grok, Cursor and X Premium land in the same cart

On Monday, October 12, xAI made it official through the SpaceXSI account on X: the launch of The X Subscription, a single product that replaces selling SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium separately. This is not an app leak or a tester's interpretation, it is a direct announcement from the company, with public pricing, a start date of today, and identical replication from at least five independent outlets hours later, including Engadget and Yahoo Finance.

Five plans, one shared usage pool

The structure has five tiers. The free plan gives daily access to Grok Chat, a starter allowance for Cursor's coding agents and the standard version of X. Plus, at US$8 a month, adds Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, the Grok API, Cursor access and the X Premium checkmark, with fewer ads on the timeline. Premium, at US$30, multiplies Plus usage by four and adds Grok Bot, the newest models, image and video generation and faster responses; according to the reports, it bundles what used to require paying for SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ separately, a combined US$90 a month. Super, at US$100, multiplies usage by 15 and adds priority access during peak hours. Ultra, at US$200, multiplies usage by 50 and gets earliest access to new products and models.

Where the real math lands for whoever pays

The detail that changes the game for developers is the shared usage pool: Grok consumption through its apps, the Grok tab inside X and Cursor all draw from the same bucket. xAI states every paid plan includes at least double the coding usage with its own models compared with the equivalent standalone Cursor plan. Third party models remain available inside Cursor from Premium up, but they are billed outside that pool, at API list price, through top ups.

Whoever already pays separately does not need to do anything

Current SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium subscribers keep their plan, price and features with no automatic change; the option to switch will appear in billing settings over the coming days, with a prorated refund for the old plan and limited time upgrade offers. Businesses get Premium, Super and Ultra at the same per seat price, with single sign on, admin controls and consolidated billing.

What still needs proving

The announcement comes from the company itself and was confirmed by independent press, which is why the label here is confirmation, not rumor. But the shared usage pool math has not yet gone through a heavy use stress test: none of the outlets that replicated the announcement measured, in practice, how long that combined consumption lasts during a real day of agentic work inside Cursor. That number, not the list price, is what decides whether the switch pays off for anyone already running agents in production.

MaxAssistant's take

Bundling Grok, Cursor and X Premium under one umbrella simplifies the bill, but it also ties Cursor's growth structurally to Grok adoption: developers inside the bundle have a direct incentive to reach for the in house model first and pay extra only when they need GPT or Claude. For anyone already paying for SuperGrok separately, it is worth comparing the equivalent quota before switching, because the lower price is only a real win if the shared pool holds up at the current pace of use.
