How to read this radar
This is the daily roundup of the main AI news circulating on X. We mark as CONFIRMED what came from an official company account or page, as X SUMMARY what only shows up in X trend summaries (with no official confirmation we could verify) and as RUMOR what has not been confirmed yet.
Anthropic: Max becomes Max and Ultra, no 5-hour limit on Ultra, 128 MB API requests and the Duet waitlist
5PM UPDATE, CONFIRMED: Anthropic renamed its plans: Max 5x is now just Max ($100 a month) and Max 20x is now Ultra ($200 a month), with no price change. Verified Ultra accounts lose the 5-hour limit starting today, beginning with most existing subscribers; newer accounts keep a temporary limit until verified, and weekly limits are unchanged (post, help center). Boris Cherny, from Claude Code, echoed the news (post). The pricing page also flags as new Fable included on Max and Ultra for up to half the weekly limit, plus monthly API credits of $100 on Max and $200 on Ultra (claude.com/pricing). RUMOR: on X, many read the change as capacity prep for Fable 5.5 and a wider Duet rollout, but Anthropic has said nothing about that. CONFIRMED: the Claude API now accepts requests up to 128 MB on the Messages and Token Counting endpoints, four times the previous 32 MB, aimed at long computer-use sessions and big PDFs. For requests with more than 20 images, the per-image limit rose from 2000 to 3000 pixels. It only applies to Anthropic's first-party API; on partner clouds the cap stays between 20 and 32 MB (post, details). X SUMMARY: around 10/27, Claude Code reportedly got a rule that blocks recreating specific games, even renamed ones, switched on by a server-side flag; original and genre games are still allowed (X trend). Anthropic has not commented. X SUMMARY: SpaceX filings reportedly show Anthropic as its biggest customer, with 34.5% of third-quarter revenue from rented compute (X trend). And Thariq Shihipar, who helped build Claude Code, reportedly left Anthropic and wrote about the downside of the agent “mania” (X trend). CONFIRMED: Karan Ahuja, who leads Claude Duet, shared a walkthrough of how Tasks and Channels work in the product (post). Nothing new on expansion: Duet is still a US-only waitlist, with no date for Brazil (our Duet story). RUMOR: Fable 5.5 is still unannounced.
SpaceXAI: a startup program with Grok credits, and a late Grok 4.8
CONFIRMED: SpaceXAI opened Grok for Startups, with credits that work across Grok, Grok Build, Grok Bot, the Grok API and Cursor. The official page talks about credits sized for six to twelve months of real usage, 20% released on approval and the other 80% once the company is up and running, plus a direct line to the startups team (x.ai/startups). The page lists no criteria or country restrictions. X SUMMARY: according to a promotional post, the team looks at venture backing, a live product and a company email matching the website domain, and people who got credits from an earlier xAI program can still apply (post). CONFIRMED: Elon Musk admitted Grok 4.8 is taking longer than expected but said it “will not be a disappointment” and that the focus is usefulness, not benchmarks (post). No date yet. X SUMMARY: Musk is also urging people to “hire” Grok Bots as employees (X trend).
Cursor: a tampered Claude Code extension hits up to 5,000 users
CONFIRMED: Cursor found a modified, malicious version of the Claude Code extension for VS Code in the Cursor extension marketplace, affecting at most 5,000 users. The fake extension was not built by Anthropic. Cursor took the marketplace down, worked with providers to neutralize the malware and brought the store back; anyone possibly affected should follow the notice and update Claude Code for VS Code to version 2.1.314 (post, security notice). If you run several coding agents on the same machine, check today.
OpenAI: Prism shuts down, Private Intelligence and GPT-6.2 Betelgeuse on the radar
5PM UPDATE, CONFIRMED: Prism, the AI LaTeX editor for scientists launched in January, shuts down on January 1, 2027 and its data will be deleted; OpenAI published a guide to export projects and keep working in Codex (blog notice, migration guide). According to WIRED, the Prism team moved under Codex head Tibo, and Kevin Weil left the company (WIRED). CONFIRMED: OpenAI promoted Private Intelligence again, first announced at DevDay in September, with ZDR and controls over what agents can access and do; Private Inference, on confidential computing, is still an API preview (post, page). X SUMMARY: an OpenAI teaser video (“There are many futures”) revived hopes for GPT-6.1 Astra (post), and unsourced accounts talk about Fable 5.5 and Astra in November (example); treat it as RUMOR. RUMOR: internal trackers reportedly mention a GPT-6.2 codenamed Betelgeuse, or “Bel”, and GPT Image 2.6 keeps showing up in the API docs. X SUMMARY: the X summary says Tibo, from Codex, hinted at good news for the end of the 28-day shipping challenge on November 1 (X trend). Nothing official yet, and GPT-6.1 Astra remains cancelled, with no news.
Agents: NousCon tonight, a new OpenClaw and devs mixing Claude Code with Codex
CONFIRMED: NousCon, where Nous Research promises to show the future of Hermes Agent, takes place tonight in New York (Luma); Nous even promised a neon sign to whoever has “the most potent aura” (post). RUMOR: according to an attendee, Teknium said the Hermes cloud tier from $100 comes with a full GUI desktop (post). CONFIRMED: OpenClaw v2026.10.9 is out, with update rollback fixes, agent data and chat archive repairs and new editor sessions opening in your chosen project folder, from 38 PRs by 22 contributors (post). X SUMMARY: devs keep using Claude Code and Codex on the same project, one for multi-file reasoning and the other for quick tasks, and complain about keeping them in sync; tools that log prompts and commits help one agent pick up where the other left off (X trend). Along the same lines, T3 Code, an open app that runs Claude Code, Codex and Cursor in one interface, is winning fans (X trend). For anyone orchestrating several agents, the problem is the usual one: handing context over. Already covered here: the end of Google Jules and Canva Brush, its own model. 5PM UPDATE, CONFIRMED: OpenCode 2.2.3 brings back Claude subscription use through a “Claude Agent” provider that runs the official Claude Code binary via Anthropic's SDK, and adds an image generation tool with models from OpenAI, Gemini and Grok (post, image generation). Anthropic has not commented, and some on X point to its rules against third-party use of claude.ai logins. X SUMMARY, multi-agent: a Google DeepMind paper, “The Economics of Intelligence”, argues AI's big gain comes from coordination between agents, not solo smarts (X trend), and a Berkeley and Stanford study says agents do up to 39% better when they drop their history and restart from the best solution so far (X trend).
Voice: Cartesia packages the whole voice agent
CONFIRMED: Cartesia launched Managed Agents, an end-to-end enterprise voice agent platform bundling transcription, model, voice and telephony, and says it ranks first on Artificial Analysis Speech Agent Arena and ServiceNow EVA-Bench (post). There is a live demo and Q&A on Tuesday, November 3 (sign up). X SUMMARY: VoiceArena released Joy, 100,000 hours of real, unscripted conversations in 10 languages, with overlaps and backchannels preserved, to train voice that talks like people (X trend). For anyone building voice assistants like MaxAssistant, it is material for more natural turn-taking. 5PM UPDATE, X SUMMARY: Granola released free, unlimited voice typing on Mac (press Fn and talk), and Wispr Flow answered by offering up to 12 months free to switchers (X trend). ElevenLabs launched SFX v3, a text-to-sound-effects model, in its app and API (X trend).
Open opportunities
CONFIRMED: besides Grok for Startups, Novita AI announced a startup program with up to $10K in credits for eligible teams (post). X SUMMARY: third-party posts promote Baseten's startup program, with up to $27.5K in inference credits for Seed to Series A companies (post), and the Suno MCP beta, which makes songs inside assistants like ChatGPT and Claude, with signup open even on the free plan (post). Check each company's own page for the rules before applying. 5PM UPDATE: OpenAI has an interest form for Private Intelligence, aimed at companies with sensitive data. X SUMMARY: OpenCode announced “$100 of usage” for DeepSeek V4.1 Flash without detailing the rules (post), and the Wispr Flow offer of up to 12 months free only shows up in reports on X.
