Meta Business Agent Goes Global on WhatsApp and Starts Charging by Token

On June 3, 2026, Meta rolled out Meta Business Agent worldwide, its AI powered customer service agent inside WhatsApp Business. According to TechTimes and Enterprise DNA, the tool is now available on iOS, Android and the Business Platform for companies of any size in any country, closing out nearly two years of testing limited to selected markets.

How Meta Business Agent Works

Meta Business Agent is built to handle much of the first line of customer support without human involvement. Wati.io and SocialDay report that it answers frequent customer questions, recommends products based on the conversation, schedules appointments, qualifies sales leads and automatically hands the chat off to a human agent whenever a case needs more nuance.

The End of the Free Testing Window

The global rollout came with a significant business change. Starting August 1, 2026, Meta ended the agent's free testing window and began charging for its use, according to Mintec and Intelli Blog. The previous per message pricing model was replaced by a single fee that bundles AI processing cost and message delivery cost together.

How Token Based Pricing Works

Green API and WABetaInfo confirm Meta now charges US$2.00 per million tokens processed by Meta Business Agent. That works out to roughly 4 to 5 cents per simple conversation, and up to about US$0.24 for a longer, more detailed sales conversation. The charge applies to agent conversations on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, and each AI message delivered consumes between 20,000 and 25,000 tokens.

The Pilot History in Brazil, India and Mexico

Before the worldwide launch, Meta piloted Meta Business Agent in India, Mexico and Brazil. Enterprise DNA and SocialDay note that these three markets already had a combined installed base of more than 1 million businesses using the agent on WhatsApp and Messenger even before June's global expansion.

Why It Matters for Brazilian Agencies and SMBs

For Brazilian automation agencies and for the SMBs that already rely on WhatsApp as their main sales and support channel, the end of the free window changes the math. Agencies need to recalculate the cost per conversation for each client running Meta Business Agent, multiplying the average monthly volume of AI messages delivered by the typical consumption of 20,000 to 25,000 tokens per message, then applying the US$2.00 per million token rate. Simulating that monthly volume before signing or repricing client contracts is no longer optional: a simple conversation worth a few cents can turn into tens of cents once support involves several message exchanges, as happens in lead qualification or consultative sales flows. That math also needs to feed into comparisons with the cost of other WhatsApp customer service automation solutions on the market, since the final price per conversation now varies with the length and complexity of each interaction instead of a flat per message fee.
